Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Data Management will assist the Senior Associate Dean for Research and the Associate Director of Data Management to further develop and maintain the Research Artificial Intelligence unit within the College of Medicine Office of Research. This position will lead complex projects and initiatives that promote the strategic goals of the Office of Research and will develop, implement, and provide oversight to projects that drive innovation, creativity, and excellence in research.

About This Role:

Research Data Management and Analytics

  • Manage integrated data commons for COM research mission, including academic research performance as well as clinical research performance and metrics data. Provide strategic decision support for UF College of Medicine’s research mission through the execution of complex data-driven investigations in collaboration with internal and external partners. The work may span a wide range of approaches, from retrospective financial analysis to competitive intelligence to predictive models of future impact.

Research Intelligence

  • Establish better insight into the research enterprise and implement by leveraging advanced statistical modeling, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and big data to tailor accurate, precise, and meaningful intelligence solutions to administrators and faculty leaders. Develop approaches for mapping the network of research interests and scientific investigations within the research enterprise and identify the novel social networks and support collaborative efforts and team science at UF.
  • Develop or improve on the use of novel approaches for quantitative study of science, communication in science, and science policy, such as scientometrics and bibliometrics using peer-reviewed scientific publications, data sets, web pages, and social media. Develop scientometric indicators to complement and contribute efforts to standardize, collect, report, and analyze a wide range of science, technology and innovation activities by providing evidence on a selected set of science and technology outcomes.

Strategic Project and Operations Development

  • Utilize the knowledge of and expertise in research process and program management to grow the UF Medicine’s research profile, identify signature programs, expand strategic research portfolios, partner with the Senior Associate Dean for Research and the Associate Director of Data Management & Analytics to engage research faculty and identify new research opportunities, signature programs, and strategic research portfolios that drive growth and innovation in UF Medicine’s research profile. Conduct operational assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for process enhancements.

Expected Salary:

$95,000 annually

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience. 

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Scientific PhD degree and the experience and expertise in the application of data science, predicative modeling, data visualization for the business solutions and academic biomedical research and development. This candidate is expected to have a record of developing tools, infrastructure, and policies for business analytics that have positively impacted the organizational efforts and competitiveness. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
