Job Description: In Vivo Mouse Model Experiments:
Perform experiments using a mouse model of type 1 diabetes (T1D). Administer
treatments through various delivery methods. Collect and process blood and tissue
samples for downstream analysis. Assist with routine colony management and
husbandry tasks.
Laboratory Research and Experimentation:
Perform a range of experimental methods including, but not limited to: flow cytometry,
sterile cell culture using lymphocytes, splenocytes and other cell types,
immunophenotyping, handling of samples stored in liquid nitrogen, and processing of
both human and mouse blood and tissue specimens. Operate and troubleshoot flow
cytometers. Conduct immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining, as well as
spatial transcriptomics. Conduct functional assays on lymphocytes, including
proliferation, suppression, and cytotoxicity assays; contribute to single-cell and spatial
transcriptomic studies. Perform immunohistochemistry and advanced imaging for tissue
analysis.
Carry out laboratory experiments using established protocols. Collect, process, and
prepare biological samples for testing and analysis. Maintain thorough and accurate
records of methods, procedures, and results. Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory
requirements. Contribute to ongoing research projects under the guidance of senior
staff.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Apply statistical methods and software (e.g., GraphPad Prism) to analyze datasets.
Summarize experimental findings in reports and maintain well-organized data records.
Prepare figures, charts, and tables for presentations, grant submissions, and
publications. Ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and attention to detail in all analyses.
Laboratory Maintenance and Safety:
Assist with inventory management of cryopreserved samples and liquid nitrogen storage
systems. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure proper function. Monitor
supply inventories, generate purchase requests, and assist in evaluating new products.
Follow and promote laboratory safety procedures to support a clean, organized, andhazard-free environment. Provide support in training others on safety practices. Work
effectively in a BSL-2 research setting. Assist with training and mentoring junior staff and
students in laboratory techniques.
Administrative and Documentation Support:
Maintain project documentation, organize laboratory records, and assist in preparing
reports. Support compliance with institutional policies and funding agency requirements.
Expected Salary:

Starting salary is between $ 20.00 - 22.00 per hour

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
Preferred:

Experience with specialized laboratory techniques including experience with high-parameter spectral flow cytometry, human and mouse cell culture, immunohistology, spatial transcriptomics, and biobanking in liquid nitrogen

Proficiency in statistical analysis software, scientific writing, and figure
preparation

Prior experience working with laboratory mice, including colony management
