Job Description:

The University of Florida (UF) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to function as a Health Educator and Research Coordinator to build and maintain relationships with community partners, educate patients on social needs, and support research initiatives in North Central Florida. Build and maintain relationships with community partners that address social needs or pregnancy-related services in North Central Florida. Educate patients who report social needs during prenatal care and communicate relevant information of services to them. Ensure patient and provider satisfaction with the process, track referrals and utilization, and determine ways to increase and improve the process. Work with the research team to ensure accurate data collection, evaluation, dissemination and sustainability (grant writing etc.).

Patient Engagement and Education, Medical Interpretation: Engage with pregnant or postpartum patients served by UF Health OBGYN department to educate them on social needs and connect them to community resources. Medical assistant will provide: Recording patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. Collecting blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logging them, and preparing them for testing. Explaining treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.

Data Evaluation and Research: This includes screening, enrollment, and participant follow-up for current social needs related project. Collect data points for all funding sources and ensure accurate data entry and integrity as well as data evaluation. Participate in dissemination measures such as townhalls and manuscript/presentation preparation and sustainability measures such as grant writing.

Supervision and Communication: Maintain communication with supervisors and provide a weekly report of productivity and progress. Supervise health educator team including interns and trainees.

Community Outreach and Engagement: Attend relevant meetings, community events, and meetings with community partners to develop relationships, educate, and improve referral and utilization processes.

Expected Salary:

$60,000.00 Annually

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (verbally and in writing)
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records.
  • Previous clinical or community engaged research experience, including but not limited to: Good Clinical Practice, CITI training, REDCap experience.
  • Previous experience with health education and medical assistant skills.
