Job Description: |
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida seeks to fill one tenure-track position in the area of Mathematical and Computational Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 16, 2026.
Candidates should have an established research program, a compelling plan for future research, the ability to supervise both graduate and undergraduate research, and a record of excellence in teaching. A Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a closely related field is required. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package. Although applications will be accepted until the position is filled, only those received by November 15, 2025 will be assured full consideration.
The successful candidate will join a department of approximately 60 faculty and 85 graduate students pursuing research across a wide range of pure and applied areas (https://math.ufl.edu/). The University of Florida is consistently ranked among the top public universities in the United States. The university and Gainesville community offer numerous cultural events and year-round outdoor activities.
The University has recently invested heavily in faculty hires and infrastructure, including new classroom and laboratory facilities. UF is home to HiPerGator, one of the most powerful university supercomputers in the U.S. (https://www.rc.ufl.edu/about/hipergator/), and the AI NVIDIA GPU SuperPOD (https://news.ufl.edu/2020/07/nvidia-partnership/) supporting UF’s campus-wide AI initiative (https://ai.ufl.edu). These resources are available to all faculty to support teaching and research.
