Job Description:

The College of the Arts (COTA) invites applications for the position of Human Resources Generalist I. This role is an important part of our HR team, working closely with the COTA HR Generalist II and HR Director. Together, we make sure employees are hired and paid correctly, questions are answered promptly, and processes run smoothly for the College.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys helping others, pays close attention to details, and is curious about learning new systems and ways of working. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related questions, providing guidance to College of the Arts (COTA) employees on HR policies and procedures.
  • Work with the HR Generalist II, UF Shared Services, and the Graduate Student Coordinator to ensure timely hiring, payment, terminations, and other job actions for COTA employees, including Graduate Assistants, TEAMS, OPS, Adjuncts, Faculty (including Courtesy Faculty), Student Assistants and Volunteers.
  • Track and monitor Courtesy Faculty hires, ensuring the college stays in compliance with UF Courtesy Faculty policies and procedures.
  • Enter and monitor job actions in PeopleSoft.
  • Process foreign national hires and honorarium payments.
  • Provide on-boarding communications and support for new hires that are not covered by our Shared Services partners or specific units/supervisors.
  • Ensure all COTA employees are paid correctly and on time by reviewing paylists biweekly, identifying and correcting errors, and assisting employees with questions about pay, time worked, and leave.
  • Support OPS and student assistant searches, including posting positions, maintaining applicant tracking, and closing vacancies in the UF recruitment system. Provide clear information to search committees and hiring authorities on established recruitment procedures.
  • Assign affiliations and create UFIDs in UF’s Identity Management system, as needed.
  • Participate in college and university HR meetings as required.

 

Expected Salary:

$55,500 gross maximum ($26.58/hour) with a comprehensive and highly competitive leave and benefits package.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Shows capacity for executing administrative processes that advance curiosity, respect, open discourse, and the welcome incorporation and well-being of all in an environment of complex differences.
  • Motivated to learn new systems, processes, and approaches.
  • Demonstrates a capacity to navigate large institutions to find the information needed to complete tasks
  • Evidence of skill in collaborating with colleagues to solve problems and think through challenges.
  • Has a desire to offer ideas for improving HR processes in a team setting where collaboration is valued.
  • Uses Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook and Teams) at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Experience in large, public institutions; higher education experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of administrative experience; human resources experience is preferred.

Schedule:
Regular working hours are Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm with an hour lunch. There are also options for different and flexible work schedules.
