Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida is recruiting a tenure or multi-mission track foregut/bariatric surgeon to join the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery.  Academic rank will be awarded based upon the career stage and development of the candidate.

Surgeons in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery care for patients with benign and malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, from gastroesophageal junction to anus, as well as abdominal wall hernias. The Division is comprised of the sections of Minimally Invasive Surgery (foregut and abdominal wall hernias) and Colon and Rectal Surgery. The Division is committed to excellence in patient care, education, clinical/translational research, and academic service. UF/Shands Hospital is accredited as a Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Qualifications by the American College of Surgeons Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.

Required Qualifications:

Qualifications refer to evidence-based or demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences required for the role. For TEAMS positions the required qualifications should reflect Classification Minimum Requirements.  For Faculty roles, these qualifications may reflect college-specific requirements needed for success the role.

MD degree or equivalent: American Board of Surgery Certification or eligibility

Preferred
  • Subspecialty training in minimally invasive foregut surgery:
    •  bariatric procedures
    • anti-reflux procedures
    • paraesophageal hernia repair
  • Upper endoscopy experience
  • Research experience
  • Leadership experience
