Responsible for operating and managing the UF Survey Research Center (UFSRC), reporting to the Director of the Bureau of Economic and Business Research. Oversees all survey projects and contracts, daily operations of the lab and its personnel, and UFSRC revenue and expenditures. Requires thorough knowledge of survey operations and data collection, along with the ability to utilize various programs for survey programming, sample management, dataset production, and statistical analysis.
Project Management
- Lead CAHPS and other health-related surveys from intake to dataset delivery; establish scope, milestones, timelines, and budget baselines with clients.
- Acquire, clean, and load samples; validate sample integrity; set calling/fielding parameters aligned to project targets.
- Advise on questionnaire design (wording, skip logic, translations); guide survey programmers through build, test, and launch.
- Oversee rigorous pre-launch testing (routing, quotas, validations) and manage updates based on findings.
- Monitor daily field progress (completes, response/coop rates, disposition codes), troubleshoot issues, and adjust resources to maintain SLAs.
- Ensure IRB approval/exemption and adherence to protocols; document compliance decisions and changes.
- Prepare, clean, and format datasets to client specifications (layouts, codebooks, value labels); coordinate secure transfer and delivery sign-off.
Operations Oversight
- Direct day-to-day lab operations; supervise project staff, shift supervisors, and interviewers; set clear goals, schedules, and performance expectations.
- Establish and maintain lab policies, SOPs, and QA standards; drive continuous process improvement across intake, fielding, and data production.
- Proactively identify risks (timeline, budget, sample yield, tech) and implement corrective actions with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Lead staffing lifecycle—hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluation—and maintain adequate shift coverage.
- Develop/approve cost estimates; contribute to RFPs (scopes, timelines, staffing models); track deliverables and contract requirements.
- Approve financial transactions; coordinate software upgrades/implementations with minimal disruption to active projects.
Survey Coordination
- Plan and oversee production of mail-out survey materials; coordinate with printing vendors on specs, proofs, schedules, and QA checks.
- Process/approve participant incentives (Human Subject Payments) in accordance with policy; reconcile counts and budgets.
- Align people, tools, and schedules across concurrent projects to hit completion targets, timelines, and budget thresholds.
Administrative Duties
- Serve as BEBR Department Security Administrator (DSA) and UFSRC Property Custodian; maintain access controls and asset records.
- Provide emergency backup for BEBR administrative processes (finance and HR) to ensure continuity of operations.

Preferred: |
- Six or more years of management/leadership experience and at least one year of survey lab experience.
- Understanding of survey methodology and survey-lab operations.
- Proficiency with WinCati, Scheduler, Qualtrics, Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while effectively meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated success facilitating team morale and team-building.
- Experience serving clients on long-term, multi-phase projects.
- Experience planning and implementing survey projects (scope, milestones, timelines, budgets).
- Familiarity with ci3.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve unexpected survey-project problems without exceeding budget or timeline.
