Job Description:

The College of Nursing is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Academic Advisor II to join our Office of Student Affairs Services. This role provides comprehensive academic advising to current and prospective nursing students, supporting their educational journey from admission through graduation. The advisor will manage student records, respond to information requests in accordance with university policies, and play an active role in recruitment and admissions processes.

Monitor academic progression and provide advisement to all students enrolled in the undergraduate nursing programs.

- Serve as a member of the general undergraduate advising team to provide information to Traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, and RN-BSN nursing programs
- Serve as main academic advisor for the Accelerated BSN program
- Prepare and disseminate semester advisement materials for undergraduate students
- Responsible for registration and related functions for graduate and professional students
- Assist in resolving issues related to registration problems
- Verify completion of degree requirements and educational testing eligibility as needed for undergraduate students.
- Develop curriculum plans for undergraduate students; consult with ADSA for appropriateness as indicated
- Maintain accurate roster of students in specified program to assist with clinical placements each semester
- Maintains official student records throughout student’s program/s of study in the College of Nursing (CON) to ensure organized acquisition, storage, and retrieval of necessary information and data.
- Accurately interpret and implement admission and registration policies and procedures [25%] Manage admission application process
- Compile and review admissions applications using transcripts SLATE, NursingCAS, and COMPASS.
- Communicate with prospective applicants as needed.
- Prepare applicant files for review by the Admissions Advisory Committee for consideration.
- Analyze admissions data and work with the UF Admissions office to resolve any issues.
- Manage the admissions application process for the Accelerated BSN program including ongoing communication with students, and coordination of admissions meeting for Gainesville and Jacksonville students.
- Communicates with prospective students to provide information on all CON programs and facilitate the application/admission process for all programs.
- Serve as the CON liaison with the EWU-UF partnership for the Accelerated BSN program
- Support undergraduate team with admissions as needed.

Manage the student scholarship awards process- Coordinate with program directors, alumni affairs, and CON accounting office to ensure that scholarships are processed and awarded correctly. 

- Enter student scholarship awards into COMPASS system and notify students of awards.
- Work closely with financial advisor and office of development as required for scholarship process
- Track and audit scholarship awards each semester to ensure accurate disbursement of awards
- Provide data and information as requested by Alumni Affairs within the CON

Assist with recruitment for CON undergraduate and graduate programs as needed.
- Assist with the recruitment of prospective students for the EWU-UF partnership for the Accelerated BSN program and serve as the CON liaison for the EWU-UF partnership.
- Represent the CON at conferences and meetings as assigned to recruit for all undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the college.
- Serve as the recruiting and advising representative for interdisciplinary programs involving the College of Nursing. Operate motor vehicle.

Assist with input and management of information in various databases as requested.  Maintain records as requested.

Expected Salary:

$40,000-$50,000 

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisors area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisors area of responsibility and two years of relevant experience.

Valid FL driver's license.

Preferred:

EDUCATION & TRAINING:  Master’s degree in education or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE:
- Teamwork experience in a similar role
- Experience working with a university student population
- Experience as a student advisor

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access database use
- Knowledge of university registration systems

SKILLS:  Teamwork skills

ABILITIES:
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate projects and activities
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to communicate effectively, both externally and internally
