Job Description:

The University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to support its online activities. A major part of this role will be the development, launch, and management of a suite of virtual learning experiences. This person would work collaboratively with a content-development team to create, publicize, and manage various virtual learning opportunities and would be responsible for overseeing user experience and participant satisfaction. This role will also support the expansion of UFLI's online presence through social media and website enhancements.

This role requires a unique blend of strong communications skills, technical proficiency, organizational skills, and a creative eye to support UFLI's mission and engage its audience. The individual in this role will manage our digital platforms, support the expansion of our digital footprint, and ensure our online learning and event programs run smoothly from start to finish.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
Virtual Learning
  • Coordinate the delivery of virtual events, including UFLI Academies and webinars, managing marketing, registration, participant communication and support, and technical hosting
  • Develop and manage UFLI’s online professional development products, including integrating multimedia elements that support instructional goals
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, faculty, and content experts to produce engaging and pedagogically sound media
  • Oversee the implementation of digital event management and registration applications
  • Support the user experience through hands on tech support
  • Help ensure all instructional material are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with UFLI’s branding
Social Media
  • Support the development and implementation of a social media content calendar across platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Substack, and others.
  • Conduct ongoing social media listening and data analysis to stay attuned to user feedback, perceptions, and trends, leveraging this insight to guide content and strategic messaging.
  • Assist in shaping UFLI’s long-term communications planning through audience analysis and storytelling
  • Help ensure all social media posts are aligned with UFLI’s branding
Website
  • Lead the overhaul of the UFLI website to better meet the needs of UFLI’s growing user base
  • Support updates and maintenance of the UFLI website, including uploading new content, creating new pages, and ensuring information is current
  • Help ensure all web products are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with UFLI’s branding
Expected Salary:

$55,000- $70,000

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
 
  • Strong technical skills and a high comfort level with various digital platforms (e.g., content management systems, social media schedulers, LMS like Canvas, webinar software like Zoom).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide clear, empathetic customer support.
  • Experience managing webpages, social media, online registration systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of UFLI’s vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.
