Job Description:

The Faculty Instructional Resources and Support Team in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is seeking an OPS Production and Instructional Support Specialist. This role manages day‑to‑day operations of the Express Video Studio (EVS) and Express Audio Studio (EAS), oversees readiness for the main studio, and remediates/redesigns instructor materials (frequently PowerPoint) to be thoughtfully designed, accessible, and ready for efficient recording. This team member also prepares rooms, clients, and assists studio and field productions as needed (equipment prep, basic camera/audio help, slate, talent wrangling, asset offload, and session notes).

Working with a corresponding role on the Instructional Design team, this position translates course goals, scripts, and storyboards into production‑ready artifacts, improves slide design and media assets for clarity and engagement, and ensures compliance with UF accessibility policies and UF course quality standards for online courses.

By making faculty media clearer, more engaging, and aligned to learning outcomes before recording, the production specialist strengthens student engagement and success in CALS courses—advancing FIRST’s mission to partner with CALS/IFAS faculty on accessible, high‑quality, outcome‑based and student‑centered teaching and learning experiences.

Main studio session readiness

  • Record instructors in the studio.
  • Coordinate studio setup according to appointment requirements; confirm record-ready slide/script versions and media assets.
  • Coordinate and assist with field recording as needed.
  • Assist the production manager with call sheets, room/gear prep, and on-site support.
  • Capture debrief notes; track and route follow-ups.

Instructional material remediation & redesign

  • Redesign/re-template slides for clarity, pacing, and on-camera legibility (structure, typography, contrast, media).
  • Apply accessibility best practices (headings, meaningful links, alt text, reading order, color contrast).
  • Build simple visual storyboards/segment outlines to support efficient production.

Run Express Studios (operations, service, safety, data management, documentation)

  • Reset EVS/EAS between appointments and as needed; verify lighting/audio presets and readiness.
  • Provide just-in-time user coaching; triage and escalate technical issues.
  • Maintain SOPs, checklists, and usage/incident logs.

Captioning support

  • Coordinate with internal/external captioning to verify accuracy and submit request if accuracy is inadequate; ensure all deliverables meet UF policy.

Data, assets & documentation

  • Manage project folders, file naming, archiving, and version control.

Professional development

  • Complete relevant trainings; stay up-to-date with emerging best practices and technologies; contribute tip sheets/process improvements.
Expected Salary:

$20 per hour

Required Qualifications:

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:
  • Video experience and production knowledge/skills are preferred but candidates with strong storytelling and visual communication skills will be considered.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to process information and carry out tasks with high levels of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities and effectively prioritize and allocate time to meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Animation/motion graphics or programming experience is a plus.
