Job Description: |
The College of Public Health and Health Professions is seeking an intern to complete projects in support of course production and instructional design. Projects can include (but may not be limited to) a wide array of assigned duties related to assisting the instructional designers with migrating course content to new Canvas course shells to support course delivery at the College of Public Health and Health Professions. For example, the Course Production Intern would (with supervision from the lead instructional designer and mentoring from the instructional design team) import a college template into blank course shells, import the needed assignments and course materials into the template-ready course shell, use AI tools and instructor input to create an image and color scheme for the course, migrate and upgrade the content to the resulting course template using the Design Tools available in Canvas, and keep the instructional design team informed of progress using our team's Kanban Board system for tracking.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Rich Content Editing: Skills using a rich content editor to develop html content. The team uses a combination of Canvas rich content editor and the Design Tools interface to produce course content
HTML / CSS Web Design: Entry level knowledge of HTML and CSS for trouble shooting issues within the Canvas course shell; for example, having a basic understanding of what a div is and how to look at HTML to troubleshoot issues with missing tags
Accessibility Awareness and Support: Entry level knowledge of what is meant by “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)”

$15.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements: |
High School diploma or equivalent.
|
Preferred Qualifications: |
- Entry level web design skills as described above
- Ability to quickly learn new technology tools (such as the Canvas LMS and Design Tools)
- Appropriate written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work appropriately and professionally in a complex academic and business setting using skills related to initiative, professionalism, flexibility, and growth mindset.

This is a part-time internship position requiring a commitment of 20 hours a week. Schedule will be determined based on intern’s availability and needs of the team.
