Job Description: |
The Florida Museum of Natural History's Marketing and Public Relations department is seeking a motivated and creative communications assistant to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, take on real responsibility and build a strong portfolio with published content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and edit press releases or online stories
- Assist with media relations
- Support external marketing initiatives and community outreach events
- Carry out administrative tasks and cross-departmental collaboration
- Contribute to the development of promotional materials
This position involves up to 20 hours per week during regular business hours generally Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for at least two semesters, with occasional evening and weekend availability needed.

Expected Salary: |
$17.00/hour

Minimum Requirements: |
YOU MUST BE A UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA STUDENT.
Candidates should have at least one year of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office is preferred, though the ability to learn these programs quickly will also be considered. Strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with AP style and a keen eye for detail are essential.

- Strong writing, editing and communication skills
- Knowledge of AP Style
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Familiarity with Photoshop and WordPress, or the ability to learn quickly
- Ability to manage both short- and long-term projects with shifting deadlines
