Job Description:

This candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of established laboratory procedures and techniques under the supervision of other laboratory personnel.

Duties include:

Processing of cell and tissue samples for analysis via microscopic imaging platforms. This includes the employment of molecular grade sample handling, precision tissue slicing, immunohistochemistry staining, and next generation high-content and spatial imaging preparation.

Prepare and conduct standard methodologies for the extraction, identification, expression, purification, and isolation of proteins, nucleic acids, tissues, and other cell components. These techniques will include polymerase chain reaction (PCR and RT-PCR), ELISA, RIA, Flow Cytometry, Mononuclear cell enrichment, and modern IHC techniques.

Assist with experimental animal procedures as per IACUC protocols. Generate and maintain data to be presented to the principal investigator and other members of the laboratory.

Scientific instrument usage and maintenance of equipment such as: high-content imaging platforms, fluorescence and confocal microscopes, and other advanced biological measurement platforms.

Analysis, visualization, and reporting of generated data via regular updates to project manager and/or PI. This will include data visualization and methods descriptions preparation for reports.

Act as a laboratory waste and chemical inventory technician, assisting the laboratory manager with ensuring EH&S compliance for laboratory safety standards.

Advertised Salary:

$21.00 hourly commensurate within this range based on experience and education

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Meticulous attention to data entry details.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and organize time.
  • Ability to work with the computer programs Word, Excel, and Graphpad Prism.
  • Good team and interpersonal skills to interact with investigators and lab personnel across the spectrum of an academic lab.
  • Experience with ELISA, RIA, Akoya Phenocycler, and animal work required.
