Job Description: |
As a Community Health Intern at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will be responsible for working alongside our Clinical-Community Navigators in support of the Cancer Screening & Care Navigation programs of the UFHCC Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (COE). The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning about public health and community-participative research and be eager to gain practical experience in various community health and the function of research as part of the community health continuum.
In your new role you will be responsible for the following:
- Attending screening activities to include participation in events, mobile outreach clinic days and others, assisting with set-up and facilitation of screening activities.
- Supporting Clinical-Community Navigators with clinical documentation, data entry, and other administrative functions in support of the program.
- Supporting screening, recruitment, and follow up for research participants per protocol requirements.
This is an intern-level position, ideal for candidates with an interest in exploring a career in public health and community-participative research, as well as in learning more about social determinants of health in cancer.

Expected Salary: |
$15.00 hourly

Minimum Requirements: |
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
- Availability for a commitment of to up to 20 hours per week.
- Successful pre-employment screening including a background check.

Preferred Qualifications: |
Knowledge/Experience:
- Awareness of and/or exposure to the fundamentals of research.
- Awareness of and/or exposure to foundational public health concepts and best practices.
- Awareness of and/or exposure to social determinants of health and community health support as it relates to clinical care and community health initiatives
- Experience in a professional office environment, particularly in higher education, healthcare, research, or similar, preferred.
Qualities:
- Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, especially proof-reading and public speaking skills.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to complete assigned tasks and job duties with minimal intervention after assignment.
- Establish and maintain professional and effective working relations with others.
- Success using the Microsoft Office suite.
- Florida Class E Driver's License and/or access to reliable transportation
