The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL, invites applications for an academic Surgical Pathologist and Dermatopathologist. Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. degree, board certification in Anatomic Pathology, and possess or be eligible for a Florida Medical license. Subspecialty fellowship training in Dermatopathology is required; fellowship training or extensive experience in breast or soft tissue pathology is favorable.
This position offers a unique combination of various surgical pathology subspecialties. The Dermatopathology service partners with our other subspecialty pathology services consulting on neoplastic and non-neoplastic skin disorders, as well as handling outpatient clinical material and consultations. Our breast pathology service is an integral part of our UF Health Breast Center, which is a National Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer, accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Our center is comprised of an interdisciplinary team providing patients with leading-edge treatment options and the highest quality and compassionate care. UF Health Shands Hospital is rated among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for orthopaedic care, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2025-2026 Best Hospital rankings. Our orthopaedic pathologists offer specialized pathology support to a multidisciplinary team in a busy bone and soft tissue practice. The UF Health System presents a rich diversity of inpatient and outpatient clinical material and consultations.
Primary service responsibilities include sign-out, tumor board and clinical conferences, frozen section and AP call coverage. The successful applicant will contribute to medical student, resident and fellowship training in accredited programs within Pathology. Scholarly study and investigation in the applicant's area of interest is expected.
