Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 14 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. 

As a Clinical-Community Navigator at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will support community-based screening and navigation programs, most notably through the UFHCC Mobile Cancer Screening Connector (CONNIE). On behalf of the UFHCI Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, the CCN will liaise with other UFHCC units, Leadership, and other stakeholders and partners across the University and Health System.  

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, health departments, and providers to strengthen outreach and screening efforts across UFHCI’s 26-county catchment area.
  • Providing patient navigation and education for mobile unit visits, including intake, eligibility screening, linkage to care, and addressing barriers such as transportation or cost.
  • Participating in and coordinating community health events and mobile outreach activities to promote cancer prevention and early detection.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and research staff to support data collection, documentation, and reporting for outreach and navigation initiatives.
  • Serving as a UFHCI representative in the community, building trust and awareness to advance equitable access to cancer screening and care.

This is an experienced, professional level position, ideal for candidates with established careers in community outreach and engagement and/or community health support. A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview.

Expected Salary:

$55,000 - $62,500

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid Florida Issued Class E Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in health sciences, health administration, public health, health planning, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in a similar program role in a complex academic/research environment.
  • Experience with diverse ethnic, socio-economic and educational populations in terms of taking health and social histories, preparing individuals for discussions with their physicians and recruiting participants for research.
  • Relevant experience in public health programming, health education, or community-based nursing.
  • Certified Phlebotomist OR willingness to obtain phlebotomy training.

  • Proficient time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, anticipate and identify conflicts, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong creative problem solving, data analysis, and critical thinking skillset.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, especially proof-reading and public speaking skills.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite.
