Job Description:

The Department of Environmental and Global Health in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (https://phhp.ufl.edu/about/departments/environmental-and-global-health/) at the University of Florida (UF) is recruiting a tenure track faculty member in Global Infectious Disease at the Associate or Full Professor level. The candidate will be expected to maintain a portfolio of extramurally funded research, teaching, and service in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions. The College of Public Health and Health Professions is one of 62 colleges and schools in the U.S. that have achieved accreditation as a school of public health from the Council on Education for Public Health. The college is ranked 9th in NIH funding among schools of public health at public universities in grants targeting issues of national and international significance. The Department of Environmental and Global Health is one of 8 departments that make up the College which offers doctoral, masters, and undergraduate degree programs in Environmental Health and One Health.

The ideal candidate will have an academic background in infectious disease medicine and demonstrated experience leading interdisciplinary, collaborative research teams with a track record of success, as indicated by a high volume of peer-reviewed publications. Opportunities exist to build synergy and collaboration related to Infectious Disease with the UF College of Medicine, which could include a small clinical appointment with corresponding associated effort. The position is supported by a competitive salary and start-up package, and is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month position, expected to start Fall 2026.

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Medical degree (MD) or doctoral degree (PhD) in public health, epidemiology, infectious disease or another field related to infectious disease.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Substantial expertise in infectious disease and global medicine
  • Strong publication record
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring
  • Strong established record of funding
