Job Description:

The Engineering Leadership Institute (ELI) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is soliciting applications for a part-time (.50FTE), twelve-month, time-limited, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer (working title Assistant Instructional Professor). ELI is seeking someone to support its mission of preparing engineering students for leadership roles in society. This position plays a key role in the delivery and development of curriculum and programming that foster leadership skills among undergraduate and graduate engineering students.

The Mission of the UF Engineering Leadership Institute as an integral part of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is to focus on creating principle-based, character-focused, and creative leaders that bring critical, value-added perspectives to all leadership roles in society.  The Engineering Leadership Institute supports the University of Florida in being at the national forefront of transforming the way that engineers impact society through their leadership.  As the central source of education and training in leadership, the Engineering Leadership Institute provides a critical part in the College's goals of achieving excellence through interdisciplinary research, education and fostering a culture of leadership throughout the faculty, students and staff.  https://www.eng.ufl.edu/leadership/

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, teach, and assess courses related to engineering leadership and other relevant topics.
  • Design new instructional content and enhance existing course materials.
  • Collect and report data related to curriculum delivery to meet Florida Board of Governors and national accreditation requirements.
  • Prepare materials and data reports for ELI Advisory Board meetings.
  • Support operational functions including creating course sections, monitoring registration and enrollment, and assisting with event planning.
  • Collaborate on initiatives to engage current students and alumni, including surveys, programming, and special events.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in an appropriate field

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated experience effectively teaching leadership or related courses, preferably within engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in student engagement activities, including creating and leading student organizations, training teaching assistants, and outreach to alumni.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and a collaborative mindset.
  • Commitment to professional integrity, continuous learning, and team-based work.
  • Experience teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and educational assessment processes.
