Classification Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week. Able to begin work March 2026 and commit to Summer and Fall 2026 at minimum.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Messaging and Outreach, the Social Content Creator Student Assistant develops short-form, creative content for the law school’s social media channels. The role involves hands-on content creation from concept to execution, including coverage of events, student life, academic programs, and campus moments, with some evening or weekend availability required for event coverage.

This position offers practical, portfolio-building experience in content strategy, short-form video production, and digital storytelling within a nationally recognized law school. The experience supports a wide range of career paths, including legal communications, public-facing legal work, marketing, digital media, and creative strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture vertical, iPhone-based video across campus and at UF Law events
  • Create short-form content for Instagram Reels, Stories, and YouTube Shorts
  • Track and adapt relevant trends, audio, formats, and storytelling styles
  • Pitch creative ideas and concepts for new content  
  • Appear on camera or help coordinate on-camera participation by others
  • Edit short-form video using mobile or desktop editing tools
  • Ensure all content aligns with UF brand standards and accessibility guidelines
  • Provide event coverage, including occasional nights or weekends
Expected Salary:

$15/hour

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience creating short-form video content (examples required)
  • Awareness of online culture and trends
  • Sound judgment and spirit of professionalism
  • Comfort filming and interacting with students, faculty, alumni, guests, and employers
  • Ability to produce regular and creative content
Preferred:
  • Experience creating content on Instagram Reels or YouTube shorts
  • Experience using DSLR/mirrorless cameras for photo/video
  • Familiarity with Instagram Stories tone and style
  • Experience with mobile video editing software
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred
