Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As a Master’s Level Biostatistician at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for data management and statistical analyses for publications, presentations and grants submissions for a team of cancer researchers. Successful candidates will require diverse skills in data management and statistical methods attained at the graduate level in addition to the ability to work independently, efficiently, and diligently to meet programmatic and project-based deadlines.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing statistical consultation for principal investigators, co-investigators & other team members from the UFHCI.
  • Providing statistical guidance and expertise for the development of protocol designs, data analysis plans, grant applications, and preparation of presentations and publications.
  • Creating analysis datasets using SAS and/or reviews those programmed by others to ensure quality products; combining multiple disparate raw databases and deriving analysis variables accurately.
  • Producing well documented programs for data analysis for special meetings, presentations, and manuscripts in reproducible manners.
  • Providing statistical review for proposed protocols submitted to the UFHCI Scientific Review and Monitoring Committee (SRMC).
  • Enhancing statistical practices through continuing education activities, such as statistical meetings, webinars, and seminars.

This is a professional level position, ideal for candidates with a graduate degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline who are beginning their professional career post-graduation. Employees in these roles operate as part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida. Expected Salary:

$67,500 - $78,000

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science or another related field is necessary to perform the basic functions of this position.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Diverse skills in data management and statistical methods (SAS, R, etc.) are essential to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills with ability to synthesize aggregate data into meaningful operational metric and benchmarking reports and to communicate that data in meaningful ways to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills—in person, online, and by phone—always maintaining a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Some experience as a research assistant, intern, graduate assistant, or similar in the field of biostatistics, statistics, or another related area of practice is desirable.

  • Programming skills (Stata, SQL, SPSS, C++, Python, Excel, etc.) are desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff, both internally and externally, through a variety of communication mediums and venues.
  • Excellent meeting management, group facilitation, and consultation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
