Job Description:

The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of Florida is currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Student Financial Aid Coordinator I. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and awarding federal and alternative loan programs, evaluating eligibility for Federal Direct and PLUS Loan borrowers, and reviewing students who are near or at aggregate loan limits.

Key responsibilities include:

Alternative Loan Processing

  • Monitor and evaluate processing of the Alternative Educational Loan program.

  • Analyze loan reports to ensure accurate and timely awarding.

  • Communicate with borrowers and lenders to resolve discrepancies and verify eligibility.

  • Determine award eligibility based on enrollment status and cost of attendance.

Federal Loan Administration

  • Monitor automated processing of Federal Direct PLUS Loans.

  • Communicate with borrowers to determine eligibility and resolve issues.

  • Review and process PLUS loan queries, analyze discrepancies, and make awarding decisions.

  • Evaluate borrower eligibility for Federal Direct Loans at or near aggregate loan maximums.

  • Calculate loan awards to ensure compliance with annual and aggregate loan limits based on academic level and dependency status.

Award Compliance

  • Assist with manual adjustments to financial aid award packages to maintain compliance with cost of attendance and need-based eligibility requirements.

  • Review student awards for federal and institutional financial aid eligibility.

  • Support mass cancellation of aid when students are deemed ineligible.

  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and university policies.

Other Duties

  • Correspond with students through the Gator360 CRM system regarding documentation and requirements for alternative loans, federal loans, and grants.

  • Provide operational support to the Manager in administering financial aid programs.

  • Participate in occasional travel for financial aid presentations and professional development workshops.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$43,888 annually

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • Prior student financial aid experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
