Job Description:

The Biomedical Informatics and Data Science (BIDS) Program, hosted within the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics and closely affiliated with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), engages in various informatics research and service across the University of Florida. Service initiatives include, but are not limited to, supporting the informatics infrastructure for the CTSI, the OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Network, and the University of Florida Health Cancer Center (UFHCI).

Project Management: Track objectives, milestones, deliverables, status reports, study results.  Translate study design decisions into concrete tasks, assign these tasks and set priorities for implementation. Develop project protocols and plans and work with PIs and stakeholders to clearly define scope. Manage communication among staff, study sponsors, healthcare professionals, and investigators, to ensure on-time reports and other deliverables.  Work with investigators and administrative staff to maintain budgets, establish and monitor project spending, and develop and maintain IRB protocols, and other research-related documentation. 

Research Proposal Development: Oversight of research proposal development with Principal Investigators, faculty, coordinators, administrative staff, and key stakeholders.  Work collaboratively to manage submission milestones and deadlines, as well as requirements of funding agencies.  Review funding opportunities and assist in the strategic planning of future external funding grants.

Supervise activity of research staff members in support of assigned projects and initiatives.

Communication: Ensure communication among, staff, external and internal stakeholders and study sponsors. Organize and lead project meetings. Track and communicate project updates to team members, leadership, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Expected Salary:

$85,000 - 95,000

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and two years of experience.

Successful candidates must be committed to working with various professional and community populations.

High level of problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with faculty, staff, research participants, and healthcare professionals. Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment.  Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with University, College, healthcare system, and administrative representatives.  Ability to adapt to changes in understanding and direction of research quickly.  Ability to meet grant proposal, reporting, and publication deadlines.  Interest in continual professional growth and development.

 

Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree with at least two years of experience in conducting health services, informatics, or other health-related research, in and outside of a clinical setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly with regard to interpreting and implementing protocols and in terms of collecting data to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Excellent written (in English) and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and respect for differences and diversity
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with faculty, staff, and healthcare professionals at multiple levels
  • Ability to critically evaluation processes, policies, and procedures, and identify potential solutions for issue resolution or improvement
  • Ability to teach and train others in concepts, processes, and tools
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Adobe, and Project Management software (Atlassian products preferred)
  • Demonstrate experience developing and managing budgets in support of research proposals and projects
  • Ability to manage medium-to-large scale projects
  • Proficient in time-management and ability to manage shifting responsibilities and priorities
  • Working knowledge of informatics and/or health-related research
  • Ability to handle protected health information and human subject issues 
  • Ability to interpret basic statistical results
  • Ability to work with investigators to draft project proposals and plans, manuscripts for publication in peer-review journals, and project reports
