Job Description:

The University of Florida is looking for a Student Financial Aid Coordinator III to lead financial aid processing and scholarship administration for College of Medicine students across multiple academic programs. In this role, you will manage complex aid operations, interpret regulations, guide partners across the university, and provide high‑quality advising to prospective and current students.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Student Advising, Outreach, and Engagement

  • Provide comprehensive advising to current and prospective students through in‑person, virtual, email, and phone appointments.
  • Deliver financial aid presentations, orientations, town halls, and program‑specific information sessions.
  • Offer financial literacy education and debt‑management counseling tailored to medical and health‑related graduate programs.
  • Support student‑focused events, including exit counseling initiatives and recognition ceremonies.

Financial Aid Administration

  • Coordinate and monitor financial aid processing for Graduate Medical Education, Physician Assistant Studies, and Medical Education programs.
  • Apply federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations while utilizing financial aid systems extensively.
  • Review loan processing activity, ensure accuracy, and collaborate with loan certification staff during federal loan start‑up testing.
  • Oversee awarding and monitoring of SFA‑administered grants and College of Medicine scholarship funds.
  • Respond to information requests in compliance with FERPA and university privacy requirements.

Scholarship Management

  • Work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, COM Scholarship Committee, Financial Office, and Advancement to ensure responsible stewardship and effective deployment of scholarship resources.
  • Manage the college’s annual scholarship cycle, including solicitation of nominations and applications, eligibility verification, criteria adherence checks, and processing of administrative and financial documentation.
  • Maintain comprehensive scholarship and award records to support compliance, reconciliation, and auditing.
  • Advise students on scholarship and loan opportunities and help ensure transparency regarding available aid resources.
  • Serve as a resource to COM leadership regarding scholarship processes and award considerations.

Program Support

  • Develop annual cost‑of‑attendance budgets for all COM programs and ensure accurate entry into financial aid systems.
  • Evaluate private loan requests and verify compliance with institutional and program requirements.
    Support financial aid committee decision‑making and provide financial‑need information for scholarship selections.
  • Coordinate with the University Bursar and Registrar on disbursement, billing, and enrollment requirements.
  • Assist with targeted communications, website updates, and reporting needs.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Travel occasionally for presentations or professional development.
  • Operate a state vehicle for outreach and conference travel as needed.
Expected Salary:

$57,000 annually

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Valid Driver's License

Preferred:
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial aid rules and regulations
  • Understanding of institutional goals and how financial aid decisions support those goals
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Student financial aid and loan counseling experience preferred
