Job Description:

The University of Florida is looking for a Student Financial Aid Coordinator III to administer financial aid services for students in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). In this role, you will manage complex financial aid processing, oversee scholarship administration, collaborate with academic and administrative partners, and provide high‑quality advising to support the success of current and prospective CVM students.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Student Advising, Outreach, and Engagement

  • Provide comprehensive advising to prospective and current CVM students through in‑person, virtual, phone, and email appointments.
  • Conduct financial aid presentations and orientations for prospective, new, and continuing CVM students.
  • Offer financial literacy, wellness, and debt‑management counseling tailored to veterinary medicine programs.
  • Respond to student inquiries with professionalism and a strong customer‑service approach.
  • Serve as a liaison between CVM students and the University Bursar and Registrar regarding disbursement, billing, and enrollment requirements.

Financial Aid Administration

  • Coordinate and monitor financial aid processing for CVM students using financial aid systems and a working knowledge of federal and institutional regulations.
  • Review weekly loan processing reports, perform complex spreadsheet‑based calculations, and assist with federal loan start‑up testing.
  • Award and monitor SFA‑administered grants and federal Title VII funds to ensure compliant and efficient utilization.
  • Provide FERPA‑compliant financial aid information to college leadership and development offices and complete required surveys and reports.

Scholarship Management

  • Work closely with the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Success, the CVM Awards and Scholarships Committee, the Financial Office, and Advancement to support effective scholarship administration.
  • Manage the annual scholarship cycle, including nomination and application processes, eligibility verification, criteria checks, and documentation.
  • Maintain detailed scholarship records, reconcile monthly ledgers, analyze fund availability and long‑term usage trends, and provide monthly updates to the Dean’s Office.
  • Advise students on scholarship and loan opportunities and respond to audit inquiries from main campus.

Program Support

  • Develop annual cost‑of‑attendance budgets for CVM programs and ensure accurate data entry in financial aid systems.
  • Evaluate private loan requests and publicize scholarship and loan opportunities through email, web updates, and presentations.
  • Serve on the CVM Financial Aid Awards and Scholarship Committee and provide financial‑need information for scholarship selections.
  • Collaborate on financial and career education programming, conduct semesterly Satisfactory Academic Progress reviews, and support major CVM events such as the Senior Awards Ceremony.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Travel occasionally for presentations or professional development.
  • Operate a state vehicle for outreach and conference travel as needed.
Expected Salary:

$57,000 annually

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Valid Driver's License.

Preferred:
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing financial aid programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of institutional goals and how financial aid administration decisions impact those goals
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Excel
  • Student financial aid and loan counseling experience preferred
