Classification Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Job Description:

The primary responsibilities will include coordinating and implementing large on-farm fertilizer application and cover crop demonstrations. Tasks will include hauling a highboy tractor using tractor trailer (semi) to trial locations, scheduling fertilizer applications with producers, coordinating between multiple producers to make sure each demonstration is properly implemented.

The incumbent will be responsible for keeping accurate records including application dates, times, locations, crop production information and application amounts. Responsibilities will include data entry using Excel spreadsheets and assist Principal Investigator in organizing and executing field days for project.

Performs tasks as assigned to carry out field demonstrations as a member of a team including preparation, planning, equipment maintenance and collecting harvest data. Incumbent must be able to perform safe and efficient operations of farm machinery and equipment. Valid Florida Commercial Driver’s license needed for tractor trailer (semi).

Expected Salary: $22.65/hour
Required Qualifications:
  • Incumbent must have CDL or obtain CDL within 6 months of hire to drive tractor trailer (semi) to transport equipment.
Preferred:
  • Ability to accurately collect many forms of crop production data.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Experience with farm equipment and repair. Experience/knowledge of GPS guidance preferred.
  • The ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, horticulture, biology or closely related life science field.
