The College of Dentistry, Department of Oral Biology is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, Research Assistant Scientist. The Frias-Lopez lab is looking for a Research Assistant Scientist the focus will be on generating mutants on the oral pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis, as well as the complementary strains, testing the role in virulence using the Galleria mellonella model, cell infection assays, and mouse models used in the Frias-Lopez lab.
Responsibilities include designing, guiding and conducting ongoing research and developing new research avenues working on Dr. Frias-Lopez's R01 grant 'A novel mechanism of virulence control in Porphyromonas gingivalis’. The focus will be on generating mutants, as well as complementary strains, testing the role in virulence using the Galleria mellonella model, cell infection assays, and the mouse models used in the Frias-Lopez lab.
Minimum requirements include:
- PhD or similar terminal degree
Preferred requirements include:
- The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in designing, guiding and conducting ongoing research and developing new research avenues.
- Experience with generating mutants on the oral pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis would be desirable although not required.
