Classification Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant office experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Job Description:

Point of Service Operations.  Greet patients and confirm appointments.  Identify and collect deductibles, co-payments, or deposits on services.  Provide registration forms, release forms, and other forms to patients for signature.  Explain and satisfy any necessary patient signature requirements.  Ensure proper insurance, discount, patient type codes, etc. are recorded (as appropriate).  Input patient demographic, insurance, and registration information into Axium, the patient accounting system.  On all patient visits, verify accuracy of demographic information and update the patient transaction records.

Confirm appointments 24 hours in advance; coordinate appointment book with residents, faculty, and patients; and coordinate laboratory of cases, patient appointments, and recall.  Initiate calls to schedule recall and recare appointments.

Customer Service.  Answers incoming calls from patients, dentists, and other dental care providers (internal and external), etc.  Respond to patient and dentist questions directly within scope of position.  Route calls to residents or faculty (when appropriate).

Arranged Care.  Schedule patient appointments and obtain prior dental records and studies (if appropriate).  Arrange for special needs when applicable.  Obtain initial patient insurance and demographic information.  Set up new patients in Axium.  Utilize a thorough knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.  Know policy for accepting patients into clinic.  Provide excellent customer service and inform perspective patients of procedures and eligibility requirements to become a clinic patient.

Fill in for other front office positions (as needed).

Enrollment and Authorization.  Gather and/or verify patient information, including demographics, insurance coverage, and financial status.  Obtain authorization for clinical care and procedures.  Enter all scheduling information into Axium system.

Research and work in conjunction with the College of Dentistry Business Office to resolve any insurance or patient transaction or financial account errors.

Complete daily, weekly, etc. reporting requirements.

 

Expected Salary:

$17.50 - $19.00/hr, commensurate with education/experience

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant office experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred:

- College degree

- Two years of appropriate dental office experience

- Knowledge of all phases of dental treatment
- Knowledge of clinic efficiency

- Bilingual (English and Spanish)

- Ability to set priorities
- Ability to plan, organize, and perform work assignments
- Ability to work with diverse individuals with language and communication barriers
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

- Attention to detail
- Practices time management
- Practices clinic efficiency
