- Educate Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine therapy inpatients and outpatients
to ensure that they can comply with all radiation safety requirements. Includes performing radiation
surveys to clear patients for release/discharge.
- Survey Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine therapy inpatient areas for radiation contamination. Includes decontaminating patient rooms.
- Assist with performing functional safety checks on x-ray equipment on campus and at outlying facilities. Maintain an inventory of all x-ray equipment used at all on-campus and off-campus facilities and ensure all units are properly registered.

- Assist with managing the campus laser safety program. Includes registering new lasers and
performing periodic audits and training.
- Prepare and conduct lectures related to the principles and practices of radiation protection for UF
clinical and research staff members and students (as needed).
- Review monitoring data for badged individuals, perform elevated dose notifications and
investigations, and report information to ARSO and RSO.
- Track compliance and usage data for existing applications through inspections, inventory checks,
and exposure monitoring.
- Evaluate and interpret current regulations pertaining to health physics to ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the RSO or ARSO.
- Operate UF/state vehicle(s) to travel to and from hospitals or clinics.
- Valid Florida driver license is required.
- Criminal background check required.
- Post-offer health assessment required.
This position is designated as an Essential Employee for the University, as the employee’s response immediately following an emergency event in which the continuation of critical and essential services is needed.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday, 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Occasional travel between area hospitals and clinics may be required
