Lift Stations: Weekly inspections and maintenance of all campus Lift Stations equipment, including pumps, piping and control systems. In conjunction with physical checks, use WRF SCADA system to monitor this equipment, read gauges/meters, and record data related to the lift stations and their functions. Work with other WRF staff on alarm reporting and required maintenance issues. Daily tasks include: Operate/maintain pumps, floats, transducers, valves, and other related equipment. Read and record meters, gauges, analyze data from SCADA.
Maintenance: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, blowers, valves, piping and other equipment throughout the WRF Plant, Campus Lift Stations, and Water Distribution system. Daily tasks include: Perform and record work orders through AiM. Log work, maintain spreadsheets and documents. Perform routine maintenance, such as lubricating equipment and testing/changing float balls and alarm lights, cleaning lift station areas. Maintain a clean working environment in WRF areas and vehicles.
Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose malfunctions to lift station equipment and plant process. Be able to make the appropriate repairs and replace parts as needed. Daily tasks include: Troubleshooting equipment failures and making necessary repairs.
Safety: Ensure the safety of themselves and other workers by following proper safety procedures, utilize equipment correctly, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Daily tasks include: Follow MOT procedures to ensure Campus safety for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Determine and follow manhole entrance procedures (4 gas meter, tripod, confined space permit, etc.). Understand Biohazards and proper precautions to take when working around them (gloves, respirators, inoculations, etc.). Understand arc flash and electrical shock hazards, takes appropriate safety measures when working around electrical panels and equipment.
Training: Begin OTJ training for lift stations and plant maintenance, Complete UF Treeo courses for Introduction to Lift Station Maintenance 0046, Introduction to Electrical Maintenance 0041, NFPA 70E Arc Flash Electrical Safety, and Wastewater Collection 3 license through FWPCOA.
Requires Class E Drivers’ License.
Required to follow and adhere to all Facilities Services Policies and Directives.
Criminal background check and physical examination required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday through Friday). Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for coverage and/or departmental needs. Occasionally holiday and weekend work required.
Total hours per week is 40.
Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts and/or days for operational purposes.
Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.
