Post Production
- Plan and execute video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, collaborating on and implementing editorial decisions, and performing graphic and animation assessments.
- Utilize industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve for tasks like video transcoding, rough cuts, audio adjustments, color correction, and final editing.
- Utilize advanced motion graphics and specialized 2D animation techniques to enhance video content.
- Create animated sequences that align with the overall production concepts, ensuring they are suitable for instructional content and communication channels. Compress and transcode video projects for optimized output across various platforms and codecs.
- Capture recorded video using appropriate software and encode media as required. Make video products available in multiple formats, including streaming media files.
- Publish, organize, and optimize media on third-party learning management systems (e.g., Instructor Canvas and embedded Kaltura) and other platforms like Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media channels.
- Ensure all video products meet high standards of production quality and accessibility. This includes ensuring compliance with color and contrast requirements, captioning, timing, and other accessibility features. Perform DIT tasks including backing up files to the server, or archiving and organizing files and folders on the server.
Pre Production/Production
- Collaborate with clients and production staff to create video content for the College of Education with a primary focus on communications and secondary focus on online courses and grants projects.
- Plan, manage and direct studio and field productions. Operate video and audio equipment, including video switchers, cameras, audio mixers, and lighting equipment.
- Prepare “B-roll” footage and supporting visuals for videos.
- Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on video, audio, and lighting equipment. Research trends and recommend software and equipment purchases to the department.
- Coordinate pre-production and production planning activities with other staff. Communicate technical information in simple terms to clients.
- Conduct field-based video production, interacting with clients and handling all necessary equipment. Transport and set up lighting and audio equipment as required.
- Provide limited troubleshooting and maintenance of field production equipment.
Research and Development/Strategy
- Ensures industry and accessibility standards for video and animation.
- Identify and target bottlenecks in our post-production workflows to inform the increase in efficiency and team collaboration.
- Manage targeted short- and long-term animation and new media production pipelines from start to finish.
- Keep up to date with trends in education and technology to enhance projects and processes.
- Provide some creative consultation in determining conceptual outcomes for media projects that achieve strategic goals in instruction and advertising.
- Support production staff members and outside clients in proper use of multimedia equipment and software when needed.
- Review some targeted post-production work from production staff and other parties affiliated with the University for constructive feedback and improvements.
- Collaborate with team members, SMEs, and faculty to enhance learning and access with new media tools.
- Collaborate with internal and external parties on multimedia best practices for video, animation and interactivity.
- Support the development and finalized production of additional multimedia products (video, audio, animation, etc.) by working closely with the Office of E-Learning, Technology, and Communications (specifically with the Assistant Director for Educational Programs; Assistant Director, Operations; and Director of Operations)
- The College of Education Dean’s Office, The College of Education Office for Alumni Affairs, and College of Education associated centers (including the Lastinger Center, the Anita Zucker Center for Early Childhood Studies, and others).
