Job Description:

The QPSi Training Program Associate participates in the QPSi Training Program, a competitive and selective, semester-based training experience embedded within current, high-priority quality improvement and AI-enabled healthcare innovation initiatives across UF Health.

Through the program, trainees gain exposure to innovative projects aligned with QPSi strategic priorities and build foundational professional competencies through mentored engagement with real-world translational healthcare initiatives. Learning occurs through guided participation, multidisciplinary collaboration, structured mentorship, iterative feedback, and exposure to operational and strategic decision-making environments.

This role is developmental and designed for individuals seeking applied learning experiences in AI-enhanced healthcare quality, translational implementation, and health system innovation.

About This Role: 

Project-Embedded Innovation Engagement 

  • Participate in mentored learning experiences connected to QPSi innovative project(s), which may include AI-enabled quality improvement initiatives, clinical decision support implementation planning, innovation pilots, workflow evaluation, measurement strategy development, literature synthesis, and operational analysis. 
  • Attend project meetings while observing and contributing to documentation, analysis, research summaries, frameworks, presentations, and strategic planning materials under mentorship guidance.
  • Project assignments and learning experiences may be individual or team-based, depending on initiative scope and alignment with trainee skills and development goals.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Systems Exposure 

  • Engage with clinicians, data scientists, operational leaders, and informatics professionals to understand the practical challenges of implementing innovation in a health system environment. 
  • Participate in discussions related to implementation planning, governance considerations, and operational constraints. 
  • Develop awareness of how innovative ideas move from concept to enterprise integration.

Mentorship Engagement and Professional Development 

  • Participate in weekly structured mentorship meetings with a primary QPSi mentor. 
  • Engage in Internship Connect sessions and cohort discussions. 
  • Incorporate feedback to strengthen analytical thinking, communication skills, systems reasoning, and professional maturity.
  • Demonstrate growth in innovation reasoning, collaboration, and accountability.

Synthesis and Executive Communication 

  • Prepare and deliver a structured end-of-semester presentation at a QPSi All Staff or full QPSi team meeting summarizing project engagement, insights, and professional growth. 
  • Contribute to written summaries or documentation to support QPSi knowledge management. 
  • Translate complex information into clear, professional communication materials suitable for multidisciplinary audiences.

Program Participation and Continuous Improvement 

  • Participate in program After Action Reviews (AARs). 
  • Provide feedback to improve the QPSi Training Program. 
  • Support cohort collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Expected Salary:

$18 per hour

Required Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in a University of Florida undergraduate or graduate program in engineering, computer science, public health, healthcare administration, statistics, data science, business, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently and collaboratively. 
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and professionalism.
Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Interest in healthcare quality improvement, AI in healthcare, digital health, or health system innovation.
  • Experience with research, analytics, interdisciplinary collaboration, or project-based work. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is expected. Exposure to data analysis tools or programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, SAS, or JavaScript is beneficial but not required. Experience with analytics platforms (e.g., JMP, Tableau, Power BI), version control systems (e.g., Git), or emerging AI tools is a plus. More important than prior technical mastery is an innovative spirit, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to experiment, learn quickly, and iterate, including learning from failure as part of the innovation process.
