About the Role: Experience UF’s world‑class ECC service in this unique short‑term ICU/ER Technician role, where you’ll work on the front lines with ventilated patients, complex emergencies, and high‑level specialty cases in a truly collaborative environment.
As our service continues to grow, now offering more advanced treatments such as dialysis and post op care for our open-heart program, we are excited to offer full- and part-time temporary roles to assist with department coverage. This role is perfect for someone who thrives under pressure, has a strong work ethic, and is energized by the dynamic nature of emergency and intensive care. You’ll rotate through the ER, triaging and stabilizing walk-in patients while collaborating closely with clinicians and fellow technicians. Key Responsibilities: Administer treatments and monitor hospitalized critical patients in the ICU. Rotate into the ER to triage, stabilize, and assist in diagnostic procedures, surgeries, ultrasounds, radiographs, and lab submissions. Perform patient discharges and documentation, including charges and handovers. Support clinicians in all aspects of patient stabilization, including anesthesia and critical interventions. Mentor and guide veterinary students and house officers in ECC best practices. Ensure charges have been made for each patient Perform procedures (cystocentesis, ultrasound, place central lines, nasogastric feeding tubes etc.)
Available Shifts: We have three short‑term ICU/ER Technician positions available with a limited time frame (approximately six months) beginning in April and running through to early 2027. This service provides 24/7 patient care, so both day and night shifts are available and both full‑time or part‑time schedules will be considered. While we offer flexible and negotiable scheduling, candidates should expect at least one shift that includes partial weekend coverage. Schedules may be adjusted with a minimum of two weeks’ notice to support caseload and staffing needs. These roles also include assigned holiday coverage as part of the rotation. Limited benefits may be available depending on the number of hours worked.
