This professional role focuses on advancing simulation-based education within the Kirbo Innovation and Learning Laboratory.

Working closely with faculty and the NRCD Director, you'll plan, implement, and evaluate both high- and low-fidelity simulation experiences that meet current clinical practice standards. Your work will align with INACSL Standards of Best Practice and Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) guidelines, ensuring our students receive the highest quality educational experiences.

This position offers leadership opportunities in simulation operations and analytics, where you'll generate reports, maintain utilization and outcomes dashboards, and transform data insights into meaningful improvements. You'll partner directly with the Director and course faculty to continuously enhance our simulation programs and support student success in their nursing education journey.

Simulation Operations & Technical Support

• Prepare simulation environments to reflect realistic clinical settings, ensuring equipment functionality and scenario accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during simulation sessions.
• Schedule and execute after-hours preventive maintenance windows and periodic PM/weekend simulation events aligned to academic needs.
• Monitor vendor roadmaps and implement updates aligned with industry standards and best practices.
Clinical Expertise & Scenario Facilitation 20%
• Serve as a clinical resource during simulation activities, portraying roles such as nurse, patient, or family member to enhance realism.
• Collaborate with faculty to design and refine simulation scenarios aligned with course objectives and current clinical guidelines.
• Participate in pre-briefing and debriefing sessions to reinforce clinical reasoning, communication, and patient safety principles.

Educational Collaboration & Student Support
• Mentor students during simulation experiences, promoting critical thinking and professional behavior.
• Support faculty in integrating simulation into curricula and evaluating student performance and learning outcomes.
• Assist in assessing the effectiveness of simulation-based instruction and identifying areas for improvement.

Program Development, Quality Assurance & Reporting
• Contribute to the development of new simulation initiatives and interprofessional education activities.
• Assist in collecting and analyzing data related to simulation utilization, student outcomes, and program effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate records of simulation sessions, equipment usage, and student participation.
• Own recurring analytics deliverables (e.g., monthly utilization and throughput, equipment uptime, incident trends, student performance indicators) and present concise reports to the NRC Director and faculty leads.
• Collaborate with the operations team to build, publish, and maintain role-appropriate dashboards (faculty, leadership, operations) using Excel and data visualization tools; ensure data quality, version control, and documentation.
• Work with the Director to establish lightweight KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
Industry & Standards Surveillance 10%
• Monitor and summarize industry trends and standards (e.g., INACSL Standards of Best Practice: Simulation℠, SSH guidance, vendor release notes).
• Recommend practical upgrades and adjustments to pedagogy and operations based on emerging best practices.

Lab Management, Supervision & Professional Development
• Ensure the Kirbo Lab is organized, clean, and fully operational.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate maintenance and upgrades of simulation equipment.
• Supervise, train, and schedule student workers; assign daily tasks (room turnover, restocking, basic device checks), and provide coaching and feedback.
• Stay current with trends in simulation technology, nursing education, and clinical practice through continuing education and professional development.
