Classification Title:

Maintenance Generalist III

Classification Minimum Requirements:
  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least four (4) years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
Job Description:
  •  Provide leadership in maintaining and repairing all NFREC-Marianna pivots and wells used for research and extension.  Work with the Beef Unit Farm Manager and the Agronomy Farm Manager to ensure that they are working and well maintained for minimum down-time.
  •  Provide leadership for maintaining the main road systems and gravel parking areas around the Beef and Agronomy farms including grading, repair, and upgrading.
  • Supervise and participate in the maintenance of rolling stock including tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, cars including on-site repair and preventative maintenance.
  •  Maintain specialized research and farm equipment (planters, harvesters, etc.) as well as research facilities (like the forage dryer, etc.) including on-site repair and preventative maintenance. 
  • Build or fabricate apparatuses for research purposes.
  • Assist the Agronomy Farm Manager with Agronomy farm tasks as needed including tillage operations, planting, pesticide applications, harvesting, etc. and as assigned.
Expected Salary: $24.90 /hr
Required Qualifications:

Florida Class E operator (driver) license

Certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as a Master Mechanic

Criminal Background Check Required

Preferred: Demonstrated experience and ability in personnel supervision. Individual must be able to work independently with general, not daily supervision. Must have good organizational and managerial skills related to personnel and processes. Must be able to complete projects in a timely manner and be committed to customer service. Must be able to work in a team and communicate (both orally and written) effectively with individuals in the work group.
