The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.
As a Cancer Clinical Biospecimen Support Unit Manager at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the UF Health Cancer Institute Clinical Biospecimen Support Unit, including oversight of biobank operations, laboratory services, and clinical research specimen workflows, as well as supervision of assigned staff. Strong leadership, operational management experience in a clinical research or laboratory environment, and the ability to work collaboratively with investigators, clinical teams, and institutional leadership are necessary for success in this role.
In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

Providing leadership and oversight of the UFHCI Clinical Biospecimen Support Unit, including supervision of assigned staff, performance management, workload distribution, and development of training and onboarding programs for clinical research and biorepository personnel.

Overseeing laboratory operations and specimen workflows, including processing, storage, distribution, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies.

Managing the UFHCI Cancer Biorepository, including specimen inventory, SOP development, budget coordination, regulatory oversight, and implementation of data and specimen management systems.

Coordinating biorepository governance activities, including oversight committees, specimen usage review, approval of high-level requests, and prioritization of collection strategies in collaboration with UFHCI leadership.

Serving as a technical and operational resource to clinical research teams, investigators, and physicians using the biobank to support their research related to proper processing, storage, and other laboratory procedures.
This is an experienced level position, ideal for candidates with extensive experience in clinical research operations, laboratory management, and/or biorepository or biobanking oversight, including supervisory responsibility and regulatory compliance experience. Employees in these roles operate as part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida. | Required Qualifications: |

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or another related field.

Experience in clinical research operations, biobanking, specimen management, or laboratory environments supporting clinical trials.

Experience with biospecimen collection, processing, storage, distribution, and inventory management.

Management of laboratory workflows including specimen processing, storage, distribution, and quality assurance.
Professional clinical research (through SOCRA, ACRP, etc.) are required at the earliest of 12 months from hire or eligibility.
