A RESEARCH TECHNICIAN POSITION in microbiology, cell biology, and neuroscience is available in the
laboratories of Profs. James Strother and Sandra Loesgen at the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory
for Marine Bioscience, located in St. Augustine Florida.
The technician will be part of an ongoing collaboration at the Whitney Lab that aims to develop novel
pharmaceutical leads by identifying microbial metabolites with activity in zebrafish- and mammalian cell
culture assays. This individual will contribute to multiple aspects of the collaboration, including microbial
natural products chemistry, mammalian cell culture, and zebrafish neuroscience.
Responsibilities will include contributing to microbial strain maintenance and mammalian cell culture
(Loesgen Lab 50%) and zebrafish husbandry and preparation of in vivo assays (Strother Lab 50%). Detailed
training in all processes and procedures will be provided.
Full time (40h week) employment is preferred, but part time may be an option. The Whitney
