The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.
As a Sr. People Operations Partner at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for providing expert guidance, strategic partnership, and direction to UFHCI staff and management in support of the Institute’s strategic mission. A balanced mix of technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and people-focused abilities is necessary for success in this role.
In your new role you will be responsible for the following:
- Serving as the primary liaison to an assigned group of UFHCI unit managers, forming a critical link between the Office of People & Culture (OHR), UF Human Resources, and the UFHCI’s teams to facilitate and advise on matters within the scope of HR practice.
- Assisting with overseeing the POPS unit of the Cancer Institute including facilitating the management of overall HR compliance, benefits, compensation, and other critical functions.
- Evaluating pay practices, policies, workflows, etc. and proposing creative, innovative solutions to resolve issues arising from the course of normal business operations.
- Providing consultation and coaching to management and staff, contributing to the development and increased efficacy of the overall operations of the Institute.
- Developing and facilitating tailored workshops, training courses, and other talent development activities in support of the UFHCI’s faculty, staff, and leadership.
This is a senior level, professional position, ideal for candidates with expertise in HR strategy and people operations. Individuals in these roles are expected to think beyond day-to-day HR activities and support and contribute to real business decisions and strategic planning. | Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) required at the earliest of 12 months from hire or eligibility.

| Preferred: |
Knowledge/Experience:
- Masters’ degree in HR, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
- Direct HR experience in higher education and/or academic research is highly preferred.
- Experience with developing, presenting, and maintaining internally developed courses, orientations, and related programs.
- Experience with coaching and mentorship with a focus on developing new managers and leaders.
- Experience in workplace mediation, alternative conflict resolution techniques, etc. including certification through a recognized institution.
Qualities:
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.
- Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information.

Skills/Abilities:
- Developed coaching, mentorship, and consultation skills, with a developed skillset of listening, empathy, and other related skills.
- Demonstrated success and experience in project management, as well as the ability to lead focus groups and committees through project completion.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion.
