| Job Description: |
Prepares for and conducts inspections of university laboratories to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulation. Completes duties associated with inspection performance including reviewing records, scheduling visits, conducting site visits, administering survey questionnaires, visually inspecting laboratories (lab safety, biological, shops and IFAS), and evaluating various pieces of safety equipment. Operate UF/state vehicle(s) to and from inspection sites
Evaluates survey results, generates reports, and provides assistance related to noted deficiencies as needed. Evaluates corrective actions from noted deficiencies and follows up as needed.
Conducts administrative tasks including but not limited to auditing purchase requisitions and purchase orders sent through UF’s eProcurement system for hazardous materials and safety equipment, monitoring the Lab Safety email inbox and answering general safety-related questions, managing and tracking EH&S forms such as fume hood protocols and decontamination forms, and updating lab safety handouts, reference materials and web page content as directed.
Completes special projects including the evaluation and gathering of data from the University research community; benchmarking with peer safety programs, researching safety related topics, assisting with or providing training to the research community.
Other duties as assigned.
Valid Florida Driver's License Required.
Post offer health assessment Required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday, 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM - 40 hours per week - Must be able to work on-campus - Occasional travel to offsite laboratories - Occasional response to after-hour incidents. - May involve overnight stays.

| Required Qualifications: |
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience.

| Preferred: |
EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master’s Degree in a chemistry-related field.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) or more years of benchtop laboratory experience with chemicals.
KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel. Knowledge and understanding of lab safety regulations. Knowledge and understanding of research laboratories, especially those using chemicals.
ABILITIES Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to fully, logically, and concisely explain safety issues to customers (UF staff, primarily researchers).
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work on-campus with occasional travel to off-site locations. Ability to wear a tight-fitting respirator for emergency purposes. Post offer health assessment required
