Job Description:

Lecturer in Event Management (non-tenure track position): The University of Florida (https://www.uff.ufl.edu/) invites applications and nominations for a lecturer position in the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (http://hhp.ufl.edu/about/departments/them/).

THEM seeks a faculty member with substantial event/hospitality and entertainment industry experience who can effectively bridge classroom instruction with real-world applications and workforce preparation. This position is expected to significantly strengthen undergraduate recruitment, student retention, internship opportunities, and industry partnerships.

The primary responsibility of this position is to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Event and Entertainment Management, Applied Industry Leadership, Hospitality Human Resources, and Food and Beverage Management. Due to the continued growth of the undergraduate Event Management program, immediate instructional needs are anticipated in the areas of Risk, Liability, and Contract Management; Event Technology and Digital Marketing; and Advanced Strategic Event Management. The position will also involve supervising event, tourism, and hospitality management internship and practicum experiences, ensuring students gain meaningful professional exposure and career readiness.

Contributions to both residential and online course and program development are expected. As a Lecturer in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the program's outreach by cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with industry stakeholders and partners. The faculty member will provide career guidance and mentorship to students and actively participate in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels. The successful applicant will be afforded opportunities and support to broaden their teaching portfolio, develop innovative coursework, and contribute to the continued advancement and growth of the department's academic programs.

Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) in a relevant field is required. Candidates with substantial industry experience in event planning and management, resort operations, and corporate settings will receive strong consideration.
Preferred: Candidates should demonstrate a passion for teaching and student success, along with a strong commitment to instructional excellence.

Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders within the local community and throughout the State of Florida.

Candidates should also have considerable knowledge and experience working with online course development and delivery.
