This 0.75 FTE position provides academic and administrative support for the Certificate in Horticultural Therapy in the Horticultural Sciences Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. This individual is the first point of contact for all academic inquires for both degree- and non-degree seeking students and supports the department by acting as a liaison for students, faculty, and other departments. Ensures timely review of application and admissions processes and oversee enrollment in these departmentally controlled courses. Supports course development, preparation, and delivery, and assists in the supervision of teaching assistants.
- Program Coordination
- Provide primary administrative and operational support for the Horticultural Therapy Certificate program, ensuring effective coordination and continuity of program activities.
- Assist program faculty in planning, monitoring, and preparing annual academic and programmatic reports.
- Coordinate and support academic operations, including supervising or leading student or administrative assistants providing faculty and program support, and supporting the hiring, onboarding, and coordination of teaching assistants.
- Aid faculty with course preparation, development of course materials, and facilitation of student interactions. Support student engagement and community-building activities.
- Serve as a liaison among students, faculty, departments, practitioners, and the broader community to support communication, collaboration, and partnerships.
- Student Recruitment, Outreach, and Enrollment
- Facilitate admissions and enrollment processes by reviewing application materials, communicating with prospective students, and preparing and forwarding application packages to review committees.
- Interact with prospective and current students, UF admissions offices, faculty, other departments, and the public to provide accurate and timely information about the program.
- Advise students on program requirements, policies, and university guidelines; monitor student progress and support timely completion of program milestones and graduation requirements.
- Deliver comprehensive enrollment support by maintaining student lists, preparing reports, tracking student progress, and processing graduation applications.
- Develop and disseminate promotional and outreach materials targeting both internal and external audiences to support recruitment and program visibility.
- Records Management and Reporting
- Manage and maintain program data and record-keeping systems related to applications, enrollment, scheduling, grades, evaluations, and institutional reporting requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of records while complying with university policies and procedures.
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize data and statistics for institutional reporting, assessment, accreditation, and program evaluation purposes.
- Interdepartmental Relations
- Foster and maintain effective working relationships across departments and units to support the success of the Horticultural Therapy Certificate program.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, facilitating communication, resolving issues, and supporting cross-functional initiatives related to recruitment, enrollment, curriculum delivery, and student success.
- Connection to the Profession
- Help students and faculty stay up-to-date on information and issues related to students’ work toward professional certification and including eligibility.
