A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Job Description:

The incumbent will assist building and grounds maintenance at PSREU in Citra.  This assistance will include hand labor functions around PSREU’s buildings and grounds such as assist with monthly preventative maintenance inspection of buildings, assist with necessary building maintenance and repairs as needed.  Provide necessary feedback to supervisor of building status.

Assist Maintenance Generalist II with new construction projects approved for PSREU. Assist with pressure washing, painting, roof repair, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, plumbing, countertops, shelves, or other parts of building structures. Driving a forklift for construction related project is required.

Perform general cleaning duties of buildings or property, and back-up for Custodial Worker I position when needed.  Provides grounds keeping service such as landscaping or tree debris removal. Operation of state and farm vehicles in the performance of job duties.

Assist with setting up electronics, meeting rooms, sound systems and all other duties involved when preparing for classes, tours and events held at PSREU.

Assist with maintaining all portable and set generators for emergency power outages. Perform monthly checks on set generators.  Helps in catastrophic events around the state with emergency response for IFAS.   

Responsible for maintaining equipment used in research operations, also general upkeep of grounds and buildings in work area.

Expected Salary:

 $18.79/hr; commensurate education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferred:

Ability to operate a mower, farm tractor and pull a dump wagon.
Ability to operate gas and electric power tools. 
Ability to operate a zero-turn mower.
Ability to operate aerial lift.
Knowledge of proper use of mechanical and carpentry tools.
Ability to follow instructions in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Basic computer skills to effectively be able to keep maintenance logs and research repair parts and supplies.
Should be able to positively communicate orally and written.

The normal schedule for this position is Tuesday– Friday - 10-hour days, 7am to 5:30 pm totaling 40 hours a week.

Periodic overtime when required to meet emergencies and flexible hours with potential overnight stays. 
Employee may be called in for freeze protection weekend/emergency response/holiday/ greenhouse checks.

Must have and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Forklift Certification within 6 months of hire.
