Join the Venue Management team at UF Performing Arts where we bring moments of meaning to life! The Venue Manager on Duty provides direct support to the Lead Venue Manager in many aspects of facility and event management and are a part of a larger Venue Management Team across our three UFPA venues.
Position Summary
The Venue Manager on Duty (MOD) is a key member of the UF Performing Arts Venue Management team, providing on-site leadership during events across our three UFPA venues: The Phillips Center for Performing Arts, the University Auditorium, and the Baughman Center. This role supports the Director of Operations by overseeing event operations, front-of-house activity, safety procedures, and customer service during assigned shifts either as part of a larger team or a shift lead. The Venue Manager on Duty serves as the primary venue representative during a show or event in the absence of senior management.
This is a part-time, hourly position with variable scheduling predominantly on nights and weekends, with occasional daytime and holiday hours for the upcoming 2026-2027 season running from September 2026- June 2027. Anticipated interview dates in late August/early September with tentative start date of September 11th 2026.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Event & Performance Supervision
- Reference paperwork in advance of show and prepare necessary show paperwork including generating Front of House post-show reports
- Assist in preparing venues for events of varying size and scope.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for venue during assigned events.
- Conduct pre-show safety and readiness checklists to ensure the venue is prepared for audiences, artists, and staff.
- Coordinate with technical production and box office teams to ensure performances start and run on schedule.
Front-of-House (FOH) Management
- Supervise volunteer ushers, Head Ushers, and FOH staff during events.
- Deliver pre-show briefings covering emergency procedures, seating notes, accessibility needs, and special event requirements.
- Maintain a professional, welcoming environment for patrons and artists.
Safety, Security & Compliance
- Act as venue keyholder, responsible for opening, closing, and securing the building.
- Serve as the primary emergency response contact during events, including fire, medical, or security incidents.
- Monitor venue integrity, ensuring only authorized access for students, clients, and patrons.
Customer Service & Incident Response
- Address and resolve patron concerns, complaints, or service issues with professionalism and tact.
- Respond to incidents promptly, coordinating with UF staff or emergency services as needed.
- Support a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all guests.
Artist, Client & Community Relations
- Assist touring companies, guest artists, and rental clients with on-site needs alongside the Technical Supervisor assigned to the event.
Additional Duties
- Drive a 15-passenger van when required (clean driving record required).
- Other venue management roles when needed.

| Preferred: |
- CPR, First Aid, or AED certified
- Trained Crowd Manager
- Facility, venue, or event management experience strongly preferred.
- 2+ years management or supervisory experience.
- 4+ years in a customer service heavy role.
- Experience supervising large or complex teams.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds, walk up two flights of stairs, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
