| Job Description: |
The University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law invites applications for a Clinical Practitioner-in-Residence in its Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic to start as soon as practicable. This position will offer entry-level and newly-practicing attorneys exposure to law school clinical teaching and research opportunities at one of the nation’s premier public law schools.
The Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic represents veterans in claims before the Veterans Administration, appeals before the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and Board of Veterans’ Appeals, and discharge upgrade petitions before the military branches’ boards of correction of military records and review boards.
The position will be supervised and mentored by the Director of the Clinic and work collaboratively with students and clinical staff. Some local travel for clinic-related work will be required. The position will initially be offered as a one-year opportunity, contingent on continued funding and job performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in supervision of the Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic course, as directed by the Clinic Director.
- Manage a caseload, supervised by the Clinic Director
- Meet with clients and prospective clients
- Provide education and outreach to Veterans and Veterans organizations
- Develop publication-worthy scholarship in Veterans Law, Administrative Law, or related scholarship topics

| Required Qualifications: |
- Admitted to bar in any state
- JD from accredited law school
- Valid driver’s license
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
|
| Preferred: |
- One to three years as a practicing attorney, with experience in Veterans Law, Administrative Law, or appellate litigation
- Accredited to represent veterans before the Veterans Administration
