Job Description:

The Director of Development for Corporate and Foundation Relations is a key member of the UF Health Advancement team, responsible for securing philanthropic support through strategic corporate and foundation partnerships. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, this role manages a portfolio of prospects, develops compelling funding proposals, and collaborates with faculty, researchers, administrators, and advancement colleagues to align funding opportunities with institutional priorities. Corporate & Foundation Portfolio Management

  • Relationship Management: Build and manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects of all capacities with a focus on proposals $100,000+. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate and foundation representatives, including regular communication, meetings, and stewardship activities to ensure ongoing support and engagement. Seek guidance from the Executive Director for proposals at or above $500,000.
  • Proposal Development: Identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate and foundation prospects that align with the needs, priorities, and research of UF Health (including all six colleges, centers & institutes, and hospital campuses). Lead the development of compelling grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and funding applications tailored to the priorities and interests of potential corporate and foundation partners, ensuring alignment with their giving guidelines and objectives.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with faculty, researchers, administrators, and other stakeholders within the UF Health Colleges to identify funding needs and opportunities, develop funding strategies, and ensure alignment between donor interests and institutional priorities.
  • Donor Recognition: Identify, coordinate, and steward new and existing corporate and foundation relationships. Develop and implement strategies for recognizing and acknowledging corporate and foundation donors, including naming opportunities, plaques, publications, and other forms of recognition as appropriate.

Project Management

  • Grant Management: Draft, edit, and submit proposals and other funding opportunities according to the requirements and processes established for each individual funding institution. Oversee the process, including proposal development, reporting, compliance, and acknowledgment, to ensure the fulfillment of grant requirements and maintain strong relationships with funders. Ensure timely action within frequent and firm deadlines unique to each proposal and ensuing funding.
  • Data Management: Actively monitor proposal progression, including, but not limited to, processing letters of agreement, tracking proposals from submission to decision, meeting post-funding reporting deadlines, and responding to funding institution requests for additional information as necessary.
  • Events and Engagement: Coordinate and oversee campus visits for corporate and foundation representatives, including, but not limited to, engaging key stakeholders to secure participation, building itineraries, and building customized experiences for visitors that enhance their relationship with the University community.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for funding institutions when necessary and provide reports as requested.
  • Act as an intermediary between UF Health faculty/physicians and funding institutions as necessary, ensuring that all appropriate stakeholders are aware of and engaged in the proposal process.
  • Proactively communicate with funding institutions regarding deadlines, submissions, and other needs.
  • Attend events as a representative for the University, UF Health, and/or UF Advancement.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to inform stakeholders about the vision, mission, and values of the University, UF Health, and UF Advancement.
  • Create value propositions that are consistent with the University, UF Health, and UF Advancement’s long-term strategies, including Moonshots concerning health and wellness.
  • Communicate the funding priorities and top initiatives of the requesting college/unit.

Strategic Initiatives & Collaboration

  • Engage colleagues across the UF Advancement community in an effort to build, maintain, and invest in professional relationships that allow for collaboration as opportunities allow, with a focus on corporate engagement.
  • Partner with peers within the UF Health Office of Advancement in order to gain an understanding of their priorities and seek partnerships that positively impact philanthropic priorities.
  • Attend team meetings as a representative of the Corporate & Foundation Relations team.
  • Contribute to a culture of philanthropy at UF Health through regular meetings with faculty and physicians to discuss funding priorities, provide insight on how to leverage corporate and foundation relationships, and encourage a deeper understanding of philanthropic support.
  • Meet regularly with Corporate & Foundation Relations colleagues across the UF Advancement community in order to foster collaboration, develop and promote best practices, and contribute to and ensure alignment with the Corporate & Foundation Relations strategy for the University.

Expected Salary:

$85,000-$95,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Four to six years of major gift fundraising experience in corporate and foundation relations is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a university or nonprofit environment.
  • General knowledge and understanding of business/economic environment.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation and stewardship.
  • The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and as a team player.
  • Competency in problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals are essential.

  • Proficient in the following areas: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as internet browsers and email platforms. Familiarity with donor databases, contact management systems, and tracking systems is also highly preferred.
  • The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are essential.
