UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate-level AI UX Developer to join Applications, Development & Integrations (ADI), a unit within UFIT.
UF Information Technology (UFIT) enables teaching, learning, research, and service on campus and across the region with state-of-the-art enterprise IT systems, including SEC and SUS universities, and the opportunity to teach using HiPerGator.
The AI UX Developer role blends full‑stack application development, AI‑driven feature integration, and user‑centered design to deliver innovative web and mobile experiences for the university community. The incumbent will work closely with product, engineering, and UX teams to translate business needs into high‑quality, accessible digital solutions.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
- Lead or contribute to the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle for enterprise‑grade web and cross‑platform mobile applications, translating requirements into technical designs and estimates
- Design and implement AI‑enabled UI components, building reusable libraries and integrating with backend APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket)
- Conduct UX design work: gather requirements, create user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, ensuring compliance with UF’s design system and WCAG 2.1 AA standards
- Collaborate with data, AI, and platform engineers to embed AI models into the user experience and to prototype novel interactions
- Perform code reviews, mentor junior developers and interns, and provide technical guidance on best practices, security, and accessibility
- Troubleshoot production issues, support deployment pipelines (CI/CD), and maintain documentation for all deliverables

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:
- Proficiency with modern front‑end frameworks (React, React Native, Node.js/Express) and UI technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Strong grasp of UX processes, including user‑centered design, usability testing, and rapid prototyping
- Experience integrating AI/ML services via APIs and an understanding of AI‑driven product workflows
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills; ability to work in an agile, multi‑disciplinary environment
- Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Balsamiq) and prototyping of interactive flows.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2), version control (Git), and agile project management tools.
- Prior work in higher‑education or large‑scale enterprise settings is a plus.
