Job Description:

The UF Information Security Office (ISO) is seeking a motivated, creative, and detail-oriented OPS employee to assist the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) team promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness across campus. This role focuses on developing engaging content, supporting campus-wide security compliance initiatives, and helping UF faculty, staff, and students understand how to protect university data.

The University of Florida Information Security Office (ISO) is dedicated to protecting the University's data, systems, and digital infrastructure in support of UF's research, academic, and administrative missions. The ISO develops and enforces security policies, provides guidance and training to the University community, and responds to cybersecurity threats across one of the nation's largest and most complex University environments. As part of UF Information Technology, the office works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to foster a culture of security awareness and resilience.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Content Creation & Engagement: Assist in designing and updating security awareness materials, including newsletters, infographics, compliance guides, outreach, and various websites used by the ISO.
  • Event Coordination: Assist with planning and executing campus-wide IT security events, such as Cybersecurity Awareness Month workshops and outreach tables.
  • Web content creation and maintenance: create and maintain web content using UF Web Content Management Systems (CMS).

Expected Salary:

$15 - $17 an hour; commensurate based on education and experience

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple, accessible terms.
  • Proficiency with standard productivity tools (Microsoft 365, standard office software).
  • Creativity and understanding of current trends in social media engagement.
  • Familiarity with basic cybersecurity principles (e.g., phishing, data privacy, risk awareness).
  • Proficiency in various programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) are a plus for assisting with web content, but is not required.
  • Fluency in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to use AI in new and innovative ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the AI security program.
