Job Description:

The HR Generalist I position provides support for a broad range of human resource functions to support the needs of the College of Pharmacy. Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, this position will be responsible for providing outstanding service and support to faculty and staff regarding human resources policies, procedure, classification, recruitment, hiring, payroll, visas, benefits, leave and general employee support.  Resolves routine issues and collaborates with senior team members and the Director of HR to resolve more complex or nuanced issues pertaining to Human Resources. Assists with development and implements employee engagement initiatives.

Duties include:

  • General HR Support Across the Employee Life Cycle:
    • Provides general HR support to College of Pharmacy employees, including guidance and assistance regarding human resources policies and procedures.
    • Maintains personnel files for all employees in the college.
    • Assists with general benefits questions.
    • Conducts exit interviews and processes terminations.
    • Processes approved job changes.
    • Complies with federal, state, and University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Recruitment:
    • Responsible for managing assigned recruitments for College of Pharmacy positions by creating job descriptions and posting job requisitions, creating screening and interview rubrics, reviewing applications, pre-screening applicants via SparkHire, attending all interviews as HR representative and issuing evaluations post interview.
    • Performs employment verifications, reference checks, and background screenings.
    • Partners with hiring managers to ensure a fair and inclusive search process that provides candidates with an exceptional COP experience.
    • Assist all new employees (Faculty, TEAMS, OPS, Student Assistants, Graduate Assistants, etc.) with the hiring and onboarding process.
    • Collaborates on processes to ensure effective employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Payroll & Leave:
    • Assists all employees with timesheet entry and errors.
    • Approves payroll, processes On-Cycles, Prior 90's and Emergency Checks as needed.
    • Responsible for review and completeness of various reports, including Preliminary and Final Payroll Listing, and maintenance of records according to records retention regulations.
    • Processes additional payments, run distribution reports, and answer all other payroll/distribution questions as needed.
    • Processes applicable paperwork for leave cash outs, FMLA and Leave requests.
  • Employee Training, Retention and Engagement:
    • Assists with the development of New Employee Orientation program for staff, coordinates staff engagement activities such as staff retreats, staff award programs, and staff development programs.
    • Communicates professional growth opportunities through a monthly newsletter staff development resource hub on the COP HR website with accessible educational materials.
    • Coordinate annual employee surveys and analyze engagement metrics to inform initiatives.
    • Serve as the College liaison to the Superior Accomplishment Award Committee.
    • Foster a listening culture by incorporating feedback mechanisms into engagement and communication strategies.
  • Immigration Sponsorship and Compliance:
    • Assists in the sponsorship of foreign national visitors by processing visas such as J-1, H1B, and any others as needed.
    • Responsible for tracking visa end dates and reverifying I-9s as necessary in order to assist in compliance. 
Expected Salary:

$23.95 - $26.34 per hour
