Job Description:

 Data Processing

 

  • Conduct and coordinate data quality checks across datasets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize and perform transcription of audio recordings; collaborate with research assistants to clean, format, and translate transcripts as needed.
  • Translate transcriptions of Spanish-language interviews and conduct quality assurance reviews of transcripts and audio files; assist the Principal Investigator in determining suitability for inclusion in the study and submission to translation services.
  • Process video and audio files, including editing (split, compile, etc.), categorizing, and secure storage.
  • Review survey data for missing or incorrect data and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Prepare and format datasets for statistical analysis under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Upload qualitative data to NVivo analysis software; support and participate in coding and analysis of data.
  • Maintain and monitor data collection and processing status for project management, ensuring appropriate timelines for completion of goals in a timely manner.
  • Monitor workflow across data-related tasks, ensuring coordination of data collection, cleaning, and formatting.
  • Assist with compilation of data for presentations and publications.

Data Collection and Multimedia Intervention Development

  • Distribute surveys and conduct interviews with research participants in the field, online, or by telephone. Coordinate language support (Spanish and Haitian Creole), including use of translated materials and collaboration with bilingual team members.
  • Assist with translation of research data and materials for presentations and dissemination.
  • Record, edit, and produce video and supplemental multimedia materials; organize and manage digital files, ensuring quality assurance and adherence to file naming conventions.
  • Schedule and coordinate focus groups; support facilitation and participant engagement.
  • Develop, organize, administer, and monitor online and text messaging systems to communicate with research participants. Monitor input and use of digital dissemination methods.

Participant Recruitment

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, business owners, managers, and supervisors across multiple study sites to communicate study purpose, procedures, and benefits.
  • Coordinate schedules and maintain communication with research participants and key personnel at nursery and landscape business sites.
  • Complete research participant enrollment in accordance with study protocols and UF requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with established research methods and protocols by maintaining and auditing study records, supporting IRB-related processes (including informed consent), and ensuring alignment with university, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.

General Administrative Support

  • Work with departmental and/or research fiscal teams to purchase supplies and equipment as outlined in the study budget.
  • Store and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Act as the research participant payments study custodian, ensuring study fund requests are set up, appropriate record keeping is maintained, research participants are paid timely and accurately, and all UF and sponsor requirements are met.
  • Work with the appropriate departmental or college team member to organize all travel arrangements for the Principal Investigator and research team, including submitting travel requests, booking travel reservations such as transportation and lodging, maintaining, collecting, and submitting all required travel documentation, and submitting requests for travel reimbursements for single day and overnight visits.
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of research assistants, students, and volunteers.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with scheduling meetings, and work with members of the research team to prepare presentations and publications.
Expected Salary: $58,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

-Experience with community engagement, public health, or community outreach, including experience with communication, journalism, multimedia, or training is highly preferred.

-Fluent in English, Spanish, and Creole (written and spoken).

-Experience with video editing using Adobe Premier, strong skills for formatting, layout, and organization of multi-media data using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

-Experience with Zotero referencing software, NVivo qualitative analysis software, and experience using qualitative analysis methods.

-Excellent communication and organizational skills, including strong time management, goal setting, project management, and presentation skills; ability to be flexible and adaptable in response to changing schedules and work assignments.

-Ability to work with individuals with a variety of literacy and cultural characteristics.

-Knowledge of factors impacting horticulture businesses and workers.
