Classification Minimum Requirements:

Must be a student with eligibility for Federal Work Study and an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 or later. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average and be enrolled in at least six credit hours a semester.

Job Description:

The Department of Health Education & Behavior (HEB) is seeking motivated and reliable student receptionists to serve as the first point of contact for all departmental calls and visitors including students, faculty, staff, and guests. Student receptionists will assist with a variety of tasks and special projects, providing essential administrative support to the HEB office. Multiple openings are available starting August 2026.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Answer phone at reception desk; greet guests and provide them with information requested or direct them to the appropriate parties.
  • Provide front office coverage
  • Prepare MS Word documents
  • Maintain Excel Spreadsheets
  • Create/edit PowerPoint presentations
  • Copy, fax, and shred documents
  • Run campus errands, occasional use of state vehicle
  • Assist with event planning and set up
  • Keep the reception area, conference rooms, and breakroom clean and tidy
  • Conduct internet research as requested
  • Assist with office supply inventory
  • Prepare mailings and respective labels
  • Pick up and distribute mail
  • Create file folder labels and filing

The HEB office is open Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM (closed for lunch between 12PM-1PM). Receptionist shifts are typically 4 hours (8AM-12PM or 1PM-5PM) with some flexibility depending on class schedule.

Expected Salary:

$15.25/hour

Required Qualifications:

Must have a valid driver's license

Ability to lift 30lbs

Available to work between 6-20 hours per week

Anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 or later

Preferred:

Positive, friendly, and professional attitude

Reliable, excellent follow-through

Proficient with Microsoft Office
