| Job Description: |
The University of Florida GALLOP research team is seeking a part-time OPS employee to assist with field study visits and research activities involving horses. This position will support the research team with study-related procedures, animal handling, biological sample collection, equipment setup, data collection, and general field visit logistics.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working around horses, and able to work effectively in a field-based research environment. Previous experience with horses, laboratory procedures, or research is preferred but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and execution of field study visits at participating equine facilities.
- Assist with safe handling and restraint of horses during research procedures.
- Assist with collection, labeling, processing, and storage of biological samples according to study protocols.
- Assist with placement and use of research equipment and monitoring devices.
- Record study observations and research data accurately and consistently.
- Assist with study supplies, equipment, and vehicle preparation before and after field visits.
- Maintain organized research materials and ensure equipment and supplies are cleaned and properly stored following visits.
- Follow all study protocols, animal welfare requirements, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with study personnel and assist with general research tasks as needed.
- Travel with the research team to field study locations as needed.

$16-$18; commensurate with experience

Valid driver's license

| Preferred: |
- Experience handling horses.
- Experience in veterinary, animal science, laboratory, or research settings.
- Experience collecting biological samples or performing basic laboratory procedures.
- Familiarity with equine health and anatomy.
- Previous experience working in a team-based research environment.
